Honored to Be Involved

At Tyson Foods, it is our great honor to be involved with some of the most passionate, giving people in the world, folks who open their doors to those at risk of hunger.  People from food banks, feeding pantries, soup kitchens, advocacy groups, national, state and local hunger relief organzations, and a host of other dedicated organizations whose goal is to put themselves out of business by eliminating hunger in our lifetime.

Most of us don’t have to worry about our kids going to bed hungry every night.  But we’ve been involved with the issue of hunger long enough to know that there are about thirty-six million people in our country who don’t have that security.  We see and respect the work of those who come face-to-face with hungry people every day.  People who keep their spirits, their courage, their dignity and their enthusiasm high for work for which they’re all too seldom not given appropriate recongition and gratitude.

One of the things we’d like to provide here is awareness, thanks and, should they want it, a forum for the people who dedicate their time, energy, resources, creativity and passion toward the fight to end hunger in our world.

Jonathan is truly and inspiration for us all.  He gives us hope that there’s a generation coming along behind us who are caring and committed to seeing that hungry people are fed.

Thanks, for your comment, Rodney, and for all you do and have done over the years to fight hunger.

On behalf of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the people we serve, I would like to thank Tyson Foods for their commitment and support in the fight against hunger.  We were honored to be a part of the first Hunger All-Star Award presented to Jonathan Crider this morning at the Food Bank.  Jonathan is one amazing young man who is most certainly destined for greatness – and yet, in spite of the television cameras and the limelight thrust upon him, he remains humble.  His focus has always been, and will continue to be, on the children who are at risk of hunger on a daily basis.  As Jonathan says, “One person really can make a difference”.  And he’s right – because of the work that he has done in raising money and awareness about the Food 4 Kids program, he was made a Tyson Hunger All-Star.  And because of that recognition, Tyson Foods has generously donated 35,000 pounds of protein to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  It couldn’t have come at a better time…the shelves were starting to look empty and protein is always tough to come by.  Thank you Jonathan and Thank you Tyson Foods!  Together we are “Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope”.
