Iowa State PRSSA members coming along for more than the ride at RAGBRAI

By Ed Nicholson

We’re very excited to announce that members of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) from Iowa State University will be working closely with Tyson Foods team members during the hunger relief efforts surrounding this year’s RAGBRAI.

PRSSA members will be asked to observe the events—the riders, community members, and Tyson team members—and document their observations framed around the issue of hunger.

The students will join us in uploading content to this site several times a day thorughout the course of the one week event.  We’ve also picked up several Flip video cameras for them to use, and are hopeful we can get some great video embedded here, as well.  For those who use Facebook, we’ve created  the group, RAGBRAI Hunger Relief, to which we’ll also be posting content.  If you’re interested in joining this group, and following us that way, send a friend request to ed.nicholson-at-tyson.com.

A BIG, BIG thanks to Erin Wilgenbush, APR, senior lecturer and PRSSA faculty advisor at ISU for a lot of work in making this happen.

Stay tuned for some good stuff.

Erin.  Thanks for rallying the PRSSA students to play a role in documenting the ride and hunger relief efforts across the state of Iowa.  The students should have a real life opportunity at being a part of a great example of corporate social responsibility.  It’s been a joy to read the stories and ride along from 600 miles away.
