Kimberly Porter created Asset Development which empowers low-income families to achieve total self-sufficiency. She feeds approximately 700 families in Benton, Madison, and Carroll counties, and delivers food door to door to shut-ins and the elderly. She works long and hard hours, going the extra mile to make sure no one goes hungry; even spending her own money when supplies are limited. During the ice storm of 2009, she took in 10 plus families and provided for their needs using her own resources. She cares so much about her community and the vision of OHC , and her personal belief is "that everyone has something to give and share, that each one of us has a gift to bring to the table, and all people are valuable." She," believes in people who have lost belief in themselves, allowing families to make lasting change that improves their lives." Without Kim’s unfailing dedication, many families would go hungry. I believe Kim highly deserves this award. Thank you for your consideration.
